THUMBNAIL Studies

These thumbnail studies helped me understand the composition and camera techniques underlying some of the most crucial cinematic sequences in film and television. Several are scenes from HBO’s Game of Thrones series; the long awaited moment when a hunted exile finally sets sail for home with an armada and three dragons at her back, plus a montage of other subtler scenes where character placement and camera positioning are key to creating tension on screen. There’s also a chase scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and the opening scene of a large scale battle from The Return of the King.
